History

Filmistan Studio is situated on S.V.Road in Goregaon West, Mumbai. Filmistan Studio was started by Producer Director Mr. Shashdar Mukherjee, Ashok Kumar, Gyan Mukherjee, Rai Bhadur Chunnilal Kohli in 1943 who was first the major shareholder of Bombay Talkies. But because of some issues, they all left Bombay Talkies. Even after parting ways from Bombay Talkies,they had a sentimental bonding with it.

Chal chal Re Naujawan in 1944 was Filmistan Studio's first film. Filmistan Sudio gave many Hit films like

Filmistan produced 18 hit films in 1940's. In 1940's and 50's Filmistan Studio has given many hit films.

Filmistan Studio have earned many achievements in the past years.Filmistan Studio has given great music directors like S.D. Burman and Hemant Kumar and great Prodcuer Direction like Subodh Mukherjee to the Industry. But in 1950's, Filmistan Studio was sold to a rich person Mr. Tolaram Jalan who owns the Prakash Cotton mills. But even after that Shashdar Mukherjee looked after the Studio. In 1950's Filmistan Studio produced films like Anarkali, Shart,Nastik,Nagin,Jagruti,Munimji,Durges,N andini,Hum Sab Chor Hain, Paying Guest, Champakali.

But in 1957, Shashdar Mukherjee left Filmistan Studio because of some disputes with Tolaram Jalan. After that Tolaram Jalan stopped Producing films and gave the Studio on rent to different Producers. Till today Filmistan Studio gives the Studio on Rent.

But still the achievement Filmistan Studio gave to the Indian cinema can never be forgotten. Fimistan Studio gave 57 hit films.
